Fashion writer A. Finney of examiner.com quotes Sharon DeLaCruz: "Sharon’s brand of scarves makes the sophisticated consumer feel like a celebrity." This is where art beautifully collides with fashion and ends up being the Sharon DeLaCruz Scarves collection. Chicago designer Sharon DeLaCruz has a degree in fine art and has worked as a fiber artist for years. She describes herself as an "accidental fashion designer." In 2002, after tripping on a broken sidewalk and sustaining injuries to her neck, arms, and hands, which Sharon described as "uselessly hanging from my side," she began strength training by reaching out for a ball of yarn to regain strength and mobility, and focused on that ball of yarn for new purpose – creating scarves. And, in 2009, she had the first public showing of her scarves, in the Cherry Belle scarf collection at the One of a Kind show and sale at the Chicago Merchandise Mart. Her scarves are practical and fun, having their own personality that fits the customer’s look. Each scarf was created for warmth, beauty, and colorful details using high quality materials. You may purchase her scarves from the Sharon DeLaCruz scarf collection at Sears.

FLOWER THEME

July 12, 2026 Sunday. I wanted to use old dried flowers as a "painting tool".

Intending to imprint the texture of a sunflower onto paper ... all of a sudden a yellow flower appeared. I uploaded the image to the internet and it was identified as a artistic expression of a "SUN FLOWER".

Reincarnation new life! Sunflowers live again!

Create whatever!

I resumed painting daily again, after many years of commercializing as a scarf artist and fiber artist. Now, in retirement I can freely create whatever art medium I prefer. Here are some art stuff im practicing on.

Images past history

These next few images are from my past history as a working artist creating one of a kind Fabric wall Art, Scarf designs & ink drawing illustrations.

Ethereal & whimsical

I've heard people describe my artwork as "ethereal & whimsical" my entire life time. I've tried desperately many years to visualize realism, like photos are realistic, but somehow my inner sight goes straight to soft clouds and floating shadows and colors. So my happy place is to just paint what my inner vision sees. That is my reality  and when I step outside to look at nature it is a wonderment of swirling colors. So i am just not going to struggle against it anymore, and go with the flow.

Flower Theme

As I share this past art history with you, I can now understand myself deeper. There's a common thread of flowing flowery theme throughout even my illustrating years, and fabric plant like designs. How enlightening is that? Art is every where, it is the growth of all living things and much more.
